New local cancer support service established
We are very pleased to hear of a new local cancer support service that has been established to provide practical support and advice for people who have received a diagnosis of cancer. As a care provider we are often asked by our local NHS trust to accept placements of care for people who have been recently diagnosed with various types of cancer.
Quite often we find that families feel overwhelmed with the prospect of coming to terms with a terminal condition, on top of this they have to navigate what can be a complicated health and social care system to find the right practical care and support.
This service is easy to refer someone to, in fact a person can self-refer which makes things nice and simple, just as it should be.
As a care provider we are excited to see this service become available and will embed this into our palliative care planning process and we’ll work with any support and guidance given by the Cancer Care Navigators to offer people we support the best possible outcomes in relation to their palliative care needs.
